"For me free & effective = best. Glad this is at the top of the list. Hotspot Shield's free plan is helpful with a daily and monthly cap and even if I'm a nethead, it isn't possible to cap your limit, so that's good :D"

"Thank you for posting all these helpful hints! I'm not doing anything secretive online, but I hate the thought of Google or others tracking my online movements. Thank you for showing me how to stop Google from tracking me. Great article!"

When a person is browsing the web anonymously, it means that his or her personal information are hidden from the websites they visit. This can be done by hiding or changing their IP address using VPNs, using a proxy server, or by disabling cookies, plug-ins, and anything else that can be used to identify and track down a user.

Did you know that websites use cookies to track a user’s activity? Cookies are useful for things like storing information, so users don’t need to re-enter them and gathering statistics about which browsers are visited the most. Over time, cookies can be used to develop a profile that can serve as a digital fingerprint. However, cookies can also be used by servers to provide ads that are based on a person’s browsing activity. Using cookies, advertising companies can show the user ads that are targeted to their interests.

Cookies also help with government surveillance. Against their will or completely unbeknownst to Internet users, government agencies can track and keep information about its citizens. Surveillance can have its pros, as the government can monitor whether or not a citizen is committing or participating in a crime, and they can track any activity that they deem suspicious. However, the data they are using is not always legally obtained, causing a debate to flare up between the government’s invasion of its citizens’ privacy and the government’s responsibilities to maintain national security.

Tor is great for that; it gives you complete privacy with whatever you're trying to do. It feels good knowing you're anonymous. "I think that this is a decent browsing system. They provide great features that will be significant to the functions of the app. I also really like the in-app video portion because I enjoy watching videos. I enjoy using this app because I constantly check many of my confidential information such as medical sites and this proves this without breeze. This is awesome for people who value their privacy. The only suggestion that I would like is to have options for other languages. Right now, they only allow English and Swedish. Overall, a great app."

"Epic Privacy Browser seems to be a great resource for blocking anyone or thing that maybe tracking you online. While many, if not most of us, are regular ordinary internet users we still hate the thought that someone is following our every move to figure out how and what to sell us. You also have the websites that are, well, embarrassing to be caught viewing if your mom happens along. On this website it offers solutions as well as programs to prevent this type of thing happening. There is plenty of information about who and what they are as well as how they have been reviewed."
